The clock is ticking, A rhythm echoes in my head, Something is missing, Something better left unsaid, Oh, the night will split this mortal coil The tide is turning, A soldier finally reached his home, His past is burning, His future - whisky and Long Tom, And old mother slowly touches his hair, Why life can be so unfair?! And no one, will understand how it feels When your life is in the dirt Banged up, smashed up! And no one, will understand how it feels And how it hurts, Bashed up, beaten up! How young I was - I tried to kiss the God, Now my friend is dead - So many fallen angels, so much blood, Millions died because of One, The God has blessed the barrel of the Gun And no one, will understand how it feels When your life is in the dirt Banged up, smashed up! And no one, will understand how it feels And how it hurts, Bashed up, beaten up! New York, Berlin and Leningrad, Are standing on the bones, Your bones - White stones! Strangers, friends and enemies Are all just ashes in the wind. West wind, East wind
West and the East, North and the South - Are just the parts of one cross, This cross is hanging in every house. Father ripped as he saws, Mother greets child alive, And brother wrote perfect song, And sister was never killed by a knife, And the flood is gone... And the sun dried all tears, And healthy child was born In the world free of fears! And your friend is alive, No more blood on the flag, You`re not afraid to speak loud, You`re not afraid to be heard!
No one will explain to you What are You doing here, No one will dare to blame you, The ways are so unclear, And no one will feel the way you do, When you`re on the edge! And no one we`ll dare to see the truth Life is like a sledge! Life is like a sledge!! And after all - We are doomed to fall! And there`s no safe way, Only yesterday, only yesterday!! I`m lost in yesterday, You’ve lost in yesterday! We`re lost... The God has blessed... ...the barrel of the Gun! The clock is ticking, The rhythm echoes in my head, Something is missing, Something better left unsaid, Holly night will split this mortal coil... The tide is turning, The soldier finally reached... ....His home...

In the wake of buying the Welcome To The Planet I also went for this older "EP" (clocking in on 70 minutes a rather big big EP...) as a final farewell to a very bright bright star that sadly doesn't shine anymore. Carsten Pieper

What can I say about Big Big Train that I haven’t said before?
This album took a little while to grow on me but by the time I saw it live I was in love with its humongous, over-egged pomposity! They do it all with such passion, excitement and amazing musicianship.

BBT are standard bearers for modern prog, with a sound that evokes the spirit of those legendary 70s bands whilst managing to also be thoroughly contemporary. It's astonishing that over 30 minutes of music of this quality, with such high production values, is being made available for free - and their full albums are also very reasonably priced...
